Howard Aloysius Cusick, Jr. passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026. Born on July 9, 1945, he was the beloved son of Howard Aloysius Cusick and Mary Bernotas Cusick.
Howard is survived by his devoted sons, Howard Kevin Cusick (wife Kimberly) and Brian Patrick Cusick (wife Lindsey). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Grace, Evan, and Julian, and to Lauren, Sydney, and Amanda. He is also survived by his sister, Marute Parker, and was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Fallon.
A graduate of St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, Howard went on to attend Villanova University before pursuing graduate studies at Temple University. Throughout the greater Philadelphia area, he devoted countless hours to coaching, refereeing, and managing youth basketball and softball programs.
In 2015, he was inducted into the Philadelphia CYO Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his unwavering commitment to serving young athletes and their families across the city.
Howard will be remembered for his commitment to family, his love of sports, and the generosity with which he shared his time and talents. His steady presence, fairness, and enthusiasm left a lasting impact on those he knew. His legacy lives on in the children he raised, the grandchildren he adored, and the community he helped build.
