Donohue Funeral Home - Upper DarbyKathleen M. Egan (nee Stanton), age 84, of Havertown, PA, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary Stanton (nee Nugent).
Kathleen was the beloved wife of John “Jack” Egan; loving mother of Kevin Egan (Tricia), Corinne Mancini (Lou), Michael Egan (Beth), and Judy DeFruscio (Tommy); adoring grandmother of Ryan, Andrew, and Emily Mancini, Beth, Kevin, and Molly Egan, Ella DeFruscio, and Kate, Becca, and Callie Egan; caring sister of Michael Stanton (Anne), Judy Ahern (Walt), and the late Br. Kevin M. Stanton, FSC and Rosemary Kiely (Bob).
Kathleen grew up on Malcolm Street in Southwest Philadelphia with her four siblings and attended Most Blessed Sacrament (MBS) of which she fondly spoke of her entire life. She was a proud alumna of West Catholic Girls High School Class of 1959. Kathleen never missed an opportunity to attend a Burrs on the Beach Reunion and reconnect with her former classmates.
Kathleen devoted over forty years of her life to the noble profession of nursing, where her gentle spirit and caring nature made a profound impact on the lives of countless patients. She approached her vocation with the grace and earnestness that characterized her entire life; whether navigating the complexities of healthcare or easing the fears of those in her care, she embodied a steadfast commitment to service.
Her love for her family and faith was evident in every aspect of her life. She was an avid gardener, finding joy in nurturing her plants much as she nurtured her loved ones. Her creative side blossomed through various crafts, a testament to her versatile talents and her eagerness to create beauty in the mundane.
Kathleen held a profound admiration for Ireland, especially the picturesque Westport, County Mayo. She traveled to Ireland 8 times honoring the heritage of her parents by visiting their homesteads and many relatives over the years. St. Patrick’s Day was particularly dear to her, a day she celebrated with unbridled enthusiasm, marking her love for her Irish heritage. Kathleen cherished the many family vacations to Sea Isle City, New Jersey, creating enduring memories with her 10 grandchildren that will forever warm the hearts of those who witness the bond they share. Her greatest title was “Mom” and “Mom-Mom” and she took every opportunity she could to spend time with her family. Kathleen and Jack were married for 57 wonderful years and they built a beautiful family residing in their Havertown home since 1969.
