Howard Lee Donaghey, 86, left this world on February 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred June Ferriel Donaghey, with whom he loved for 63 years; his parents, Eddie Lee Donaghey and Emily Evelyn Wade Donaghey; one brother, Charles Curtis Donaghey; and one niece, Kelley Donaghey Oliver.
He is survived by his children, Michael Donaghey and Alice Nichols; three grandchildren, Alisha Wilder Nye, Sarah Donaghey Haak, and Phillip Donaghey; four great-grandchildren, Korena Howard, Kolby Nye, Trinity Haak, and Liam Haak; and one sister, Eve Adams.
Before his stroke, he loved fishing, hunting, and playing with his cows. Howard loved woodworking and homebuilding; he was an avid scout and served as a scoutmaster for BSA Troop 107 in Springdale.
Our dad was a loving man even until the end. He was loved by many. We loved to listen to his stories. We watched our dad go from a strong man to fighting with all his might. He told us he didn't want to die yet, but towards the end, he hung on as long as he could. He passed with tears in his eyes. We didn't grow up saying I love you, but in the last 2 ½ years, that's all he ever heard. He used to snap back I love you too, or I know. Love you forever, Daddy.
A funeral service will occur on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1 pm at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Burial will follow at Sonora Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 12 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
