Howard J. Garritt, 69, of Harleysville, died Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was the husband of Kathleen M. Gill-Garritt and the late Cynthia (Brewer) Garritt, who died September 16, 2013.
Born September 1, 1953 in Prospectville, he was a son of the late Mildred (Courtney) and Howard Garritt II.
Mr. Garritt owned and operated Howard Garritt Carpentry for many years. A graduate of East Stoudsburg State College, he began his career as a physical education teacher.
Howard was an avid golfer and loyal Penn State and Eagles fan. Earlier in life, he enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball. He also enjoyed entertaining at tailgates and parties as "DJ Howie."
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Shane R. Garritt (Chelsea) of Hatfield, and Nicole L. Garritt of Lansdale; three step-children, Allison Gill of Doylestown, Evan J. Gill of Denver, CO, and Anna Gill of San Diego; eight siblings, Barbara Rivera (late Ruben) of Hamilton, NJ, Joan Visokay (George) also of Hamilton, Carroll Crager of Chalfont, Ray Garritt of Churchville, PA, Janet Sawicki (Frank) of Lansdale, Linda McElhone (Bruce) of Bel Air, MD, Peggy Kessler (Joe) of Harleysville, and Sandy Garritt of Lake Tahoe, NV; and a large extended family.
Relatives and friends may call between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A second visitation will begin 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 1 at the funeral home followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Howard's memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 970, Fort Washington, PA 19034.

Howard worked on our home and deck and always did a great job. He was also a friend and always was the life of the party! He was kind, generous and extremely funny! Prayers and thoughts to his children, wife and extended family. He will be missed.
