Howard E. "Gene" Grassmyer, 79, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at Greenwood Village, Lewistown. Born on June 25, 1945, in Reedsville, Gene was the cherished son of the late William and Pearl (Rothrock) Grassmyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen (Fultz) Grassmyer; his brothers, Richard and Bill Grassmyer; and his nephew, Sean McCartney. Gene is survived by his devoted daughter, Carrie Riley, and her companion, Jeff Bishop, of Yeagertown. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings: Shirley Rebert of Beaver Springs; Dot Snook and her husband, Bud, of McClure; Kenny Grassmyer of Milroy; and Janet Reeder and her husband, Randy, of South Carolina. Gene's legacy lives on in his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his "second daughter," Chris Ritter, along with her family. Gene served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army. Throughout his life, Gene worked diligently in various roles, including at Fisher Electronics, Lear Corp., and ultimately retiring from Trinity Plastics. A proud fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Philadelphia Eagles, Gene found joy in rooting for his teams. He also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, bowling, and sharing quiet mornings on the porch with his wife, Karen, over a cup of coffee. In accordance with Gene's wishes, services will be private and held at the convenience of the family Memorial contributions in Gene's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Arrangements are under the care of King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. Online condolences may be shared at www.kingbarrfuneralhome.com.
