Howard Lee Guscar has been promoted to the Arms of Jesus. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 2, 1945 to Parents John and Pat Guscar. He died unexpectedly at his residence in Tipp City, OH on June 6, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ken and Tim and infant grandson, John Lee Guscar.

He is survived by Elaine, his wife of 56 years; their two sons, Scott (Carol) Guscar and Bradley (Melissa) Guscar and his grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Katie, Jack, Jordan and Jacob.

Howard's first devotion was to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and developing a continuous personal relationship with Him. His family focus was to always strive to encourage each to achieve their highest potential. His motivation to help others was rooted in his Christian ethic, which bore fruit in his Church life, Friendships, and Military service, including a tour in Vietnam as a Field Artillery Officer. His post military career included completion of his Masters Degree from Penn State University followed by a role as an Agricultural Research Biologist.

Howard enjoyed his life and retirement by pursuing outdoor interests and hobbies such as every form of fishing with his Family, woodworking, and planting trees, gardens, and roses. His latest creative joy was Garden Railroading. As member of Miami Valley Garden Railway Society and Columbus Garden Railway Society, he was inches away from completing his own Garden Railroad.

His military service has earned him a treasured burial at Dayton National Cemetery.

Visitation will take place on June 21, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424 from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm. Services with Military Honors will begin at 1:30 pm. Interment will be private.

The family requests no flowers or gifts. Howard will be in casual dress, so visitors are welcomed to do the same.
