Howard Haddow, devoted husband to Rose Marie and loving father to seven children, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, at the age of 88. He leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, wit, faith, and steadfast love.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, to Nileta and Harold Haddow, Howard met the love of his life, Rose Marie ("Re"), early in life. Together they built a joyful and faith-filled home, raising five sons and two daughters over 59 years of marriage. Howard had a quiet way of making each child feel deeply valued-seen, supported, and loved for who they were.

A respected real estate attorney, Howard built his career on quiet integrity, always preferring service over recognition. He guided not only clients but also his family and community with calm steadiness and principle.

Howard's deep Catholic faith was central to his life. A daily Mass-goer, he lived the Gospel through small acts of love, patience, and generosity. He gave people the benefit of the doubt and led by example in his humility and kindness.

He worked his way through college, hustling pool and holding multiple jobs. He remained a devoted football fan of his alma mater, The Ohio State University, attending countless games, including the legendary Snow Bowl. Howard loved coaching Little League, sharing meals with his growing family, and escaping with Re to St. Petersburg, Florida-enjoying sunshine, walking on the beach, and a well-earned nap.

Despite all he achieved, Howard stayed grounded and genuine. He showed his care through presence and quiet acts of devotion, never needing the spotlight-just showing up when it mattered.

He is survived by his children: Jeanne (Chuck) Booth, Tim, Mike (Jennifer), John (Wendy), Dan (Laurie), Tom (Jamie), and Julie (Dan) Greiner; grandchildren: Katie, Berry, Dylan, Kyle, Kelly, Chris, Alle, Meghan, Mary, Sam, Caroline, Will, Charlie, Rosie, and Heidi; nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog, Oreo. He was preceded in death by his wife (Re), daughter Mary Ann, his sister, Patty Santa-Emma and his parents.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, from 9:30–11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Church, 1899 McCoy Rd., Columbus, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

The family offers special thanks to his nephew, Dr. Phil Santa-Emma, for his exceptional care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society – St. James the Less Church Food Pantry in Columbus. Or honor Howard with a small act of kindness, a trip to Mass, or by picking up a racquet and playing a game. Bonus points if you let the other guy win.

I worked with Mr. Haddow for a while at the Law Firm. He was such a fun person to work for. One time he closed a big deal and someone sent him a couple boxes of wine. We got a good chuckle out of that and when he would get to giggling we all would giggle. He made an impact on my life and will be missed.

Jeanne what a beautiful tribute written about your dad. I am sure he inspired you to be the beautiful person you are. Your caring, concern and love helped him survive without your mom. Our condolences to you and Chuck, your brothers and sister and all the family members who will miss him and cherish the memories. With love, Ron & Mary Nelson
