Howard Lee Horton, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Lee was born on July 7,1935, in Washington, DC, to the late Howard Pierce Horton and Anna V. Lee.
Left to cherish Lee's memory are his loving wife, Dolores "Dee" Horton of Murrells Inlet; daughter, Dawn Craig (Bryan) of Punta Gorda, Fl; grandson, Jason Saunders (Elizabeth), of Alexandria, VA; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Lee was predeceased by his brother, Donald Horton and his son, David Keith Horton.
Lee proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957 and was a Korean War Veteran. In his free time, Lee's hobbies were playing golf and poker, doing yardwork, traveling, storytelling, and wearing funny socks. He loved to talk, and enjoyed greeting the children at daycare, but he especially loved talking about his faith in Jesus Christ. He was an active member of a Men's Bible Study and was formerly a member of The Elks and The American Legion.
A Celebration of Lee's Life will be held May 3, 2025 at St. Paul's Waccamaw Methodist Church in Pawleys Island, SC.
At the request of the family, please consider memorial contributions to St. Paul's Waccamaw Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 180 St. Paul's Place, Pawleys Island, SC 29585, or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Caris Hospice, Senior Helpers, and all of their friends and neighbors that have been so supportive during this time.

Lee Horton was a loving, thoughtful, supportive, inspiring, good humored man. He loved unconditionally and selflessly did so much for others and his church. I will never forget his life stories he shared with me. He was a man of courage and he witnessed so many amazing things.
He loved Dee and his family more than life itself. He love God Almighty more than anyone or anything and always put God's will first. He was a wonderful example of a good Christian man.
I will never forget him and will always remember him fondly and without any bad memories. There just never were any bad times with Lee. He was just that good. He is irreplicable, unforgettable, and I will miss him dearly.
My heart goes out to Dee and his family. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Lee was a great person and friend. I had the pleasure of meeting Lee working as his Physical Therapist at Low Country Physical Therapy. He was always a joy to work with showing up with a smile and great attitude that would bring joy to everyone around him. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this time.
