Howard Lawrence Johnson, a cherished resident of Decatur, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4th, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on Tuesday, April 20th, 1948, in the small town of Crawfordville, Georgia, Howard lived a full and meaningful life deeply rooted in love, dedication, and service to others.

Howard will be lovingly remembered for his work as a mechanic for the Dekalb County Board of Education, where he devoted many years of his life. His commitment to excellence and his unwavering work ethic left a lasting impact on colleagues and the community alike. Howard's skilled hands and kind nature were well-known, ensuring the safety and reliability of many school vehicles over the years.

He was predeceased by his beloved spouse, Joyce M Johnson, with whom he shared many wonderful years. The bond they shared was an inspiration to their family and friends and remains a testament to true love and partnership.

A Visitation in honor of Howard will be held on Monday, December 15th, 2025, at the Gregory B Levett and Son Funeral Home - Flat Shoals Location in Decatur, Georgia, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable life he led.

A Celebration of Life service will follow on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025, at 11:00 am, also at the Gregory B Levett and Son Funeral Home - Flat Shoals Location. Those who knew and loved Howard are encouraged to attend and pay their respects.

Following the service, Howard will be laid to rest at South View Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia, with an internment ceremony scheduled for 1:00 pm on the same day.
