In Loving Memory of Howard Lakin

Howard Lakin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, returned home peacefully to his Heavenly Father at the age of 90. His life was one filled with faith, service, love, and quiet strength that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Howard was born on February 15, 1935, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Edwin A. Lakin and Dorthea Vay Lakin. He grew up learning the value of hard work, honesty, and family-principles that guided him throughout his life. After graduating from Farmington High School in Farmington, New Mexico, Howard attended Brigham Young University, where he deepened his faith and his love of learning.

He proudly served his country in the military before beginning a long and rewarding career with IBM. Howard worked there for more than thirty years, where his dedication and integrity earned the respect of his colleagues and friends.

The greatest joy of Howard's life began when he was married and sealed for time and all eternity to his sweetheart, Lilly Pearl Lakin, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they built a loving home centered on faith, compassion, and laughter. Their marriage was blessed with four children, twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren-each of whom brought him immeasurable pride and joy.

Howard was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in many callings, including as a Branch President. His love for missionary work led him to serve three missions-one in West Valley, one at Temple Square, and one in Baltimore, Maryland. Through his service, he touched countless lives and shared his testimony of Jesus Christ through quiet example and sincere compassion.

Those who knew Howard will remember him for his gentle sense of humor, his steady wisdom, and his deep love for the gospel and his family. He was a man who lived his faith every day and left behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and devotion that will continue to bless generations to come.

A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy on Tuesday the 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Howard will later be laid to rest in Mancos, Colorado, alongside family.

Howard's family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the love and support shown during this time. Though he will be dearly missed, his spirit, faith, and example will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
