Howard Samuel McKelvey, 90, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023. Born in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Rev. William M. and Bertha Vernon Satterfield McKelvey and the husband of Betty Waldrop McKelvey. He was a self-employed contractor and was previously employed by Daniel Construction for twenty-seven years. He was a member of Boiling Springs Church of God.
Survivors also include two sons, Samuel McKelvey and Richard McKelvey and wife Wendy; two daughters, Wanda Burdette and husband Leroy and Rhonda Good and husband Bobby; a brother, Cletus McKelvey and wife Mary; twelve grandchildren; Brittany Hisey (Benjamin), Brandi Gray (Christopher), Christian Good, Paul Burdette (Amanda), Miranda Perry (Dalton), Tommy Dooley (Jarrid), Derrill McKelvey (Ericka), Shanna Moody (Mark), Kristin Loan, Alisha Kiwitz (Paul) Mitchell (Lauren) and Ryan; and nineteen great-grandchildren, including 3 special greats NoElla, Ryver, and his baby Charli Kay; and a great-great grandson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Naomi La Mendola; a son, Daniel McKelvey; four brothers, Conley McKelvey, JT McKelvey, Clarence McKelvey and Bill McKelvey; three sisters, Audrey Spearman, Pearl Lackey and Rachel Holder; two grandchildren, Layla Davidson and Jamie McKelvey; and a great-granddaughter, Vera Burdette.
Graveside services will be held at 12PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Michael Coward officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
