Howard V. Rowsell

Howard V. Rowsell, born in Arlington, Ma, on March 22, 1935 has departed this earth, but will
forever be in our hearts. An unfailingly kind and gentle man, his bright mind and infectious
humor will never be forgotten. He valued nothing more than sharing time and talking with his
family and friends about anything and everything.
In 1953 Howard joined the United States Army during the Korean War. As the war came to an
end Howard was transferred to the Island of Guam in Micronesia to build air strips in the Special
Category Army with Air Force Unit. After completing his service Howard chose many different
career paths, including a Draftsman for Datamatic, a driver for the Teamsters, J.F. Reardon
Produce, as well as his own Hot Rod Upholstery Business. He later began his own Produce
Wholesaler business where he found happiness and was known to many as the "veggie man."
Howard was a well known member in the car community. In the 1950's he pursued his passion
for cars and joined the Ty-Rods Club which was formed in a cow barn in Cochituate, MA.
Howard later settled in Weymouth, MA, which he called his home, and was a proud member of
the Spindles family for thirty one years. Howard attended every car show that he could and
looked forward to the Spindles Annual Car Show in Marshfield, MA all year long. He enjoyed
telling stories about his car experiences and was referred to by his Spindles family members as
the "Hotrod Historian." Howard was the proud owner of a 1962 Ford Econoline, and a 1951
Studebaker Champion.
Howard was survived by, and his memory lives on through his daughters Karen and her husband
John Monteiro, Bonnie and her husband Wayne Mackey, Dawn Zelkan-Healy, and Jill Rowsell.
His grandchildren, Tiffany and her husband Jason Hart, Ricky and wife Justine Monteiro, Celena
Monteiro, Erin Mackey, Shannon Mackey, Kayla Turner, Sean O'Brien, Kaitie O'Brien, and 8
great grand children. His brother Rick and wife Pat Rowsell, and three nephews. He was
predeceased by his father Howard E. Rowsell, his mother Mable F. (Shore) Rowsell, and his
daughter Laura- Lee Turner.
Per Howard's request there will be no service. To honor Howard, we are holding A Celebration
of Life at Cannolis, 920 Washington Street, Weymouth, MA 02189, on April 20, 2024 at 2pm.
We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his wonderful life.
