Howard N. Seldomridge, 89, of Mertztown, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday morning, May 5, 2025.
Born June 10, 1935 in Philadelphia, Howard was the son of the late Howard E. and Pearl V. (Wells) Seldomridge. Howard and his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Diane (Calantoni) Seldomridge, were married on September 21, 1968 in Far Hills, New Jersey.
Howard grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and was a 1953 graduate of Lincoln High School. He served his country honorably and faithfully as a soldier in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954-1957. He then studied at the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising where he received the Lit Brothers Award in journalism in 1958. Howard spent his career as an advertising copywriter for PPL in Allentown for 10 years and for Met-Ed in Reading for nearly 20 years. Prior to that, Howard worked at Beneficial Management Corporation in Morristown, NJ where he met the love of his life, Diane. After retirement, he worked as a driver for Mente Chevrolet, Kutztown.
From an early age, Howard was an avid car enthusiast. He had a passion for cars, both collecting and driving, and got enjoyment from restoring a classic Ford mustang and an MGB convertible. Howard loved Matchbox cars and was a member of the Matchbox Collector's Club. Together, the family spent several years making lasting memories boating on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, skiing during the winter months, and spending time out back by the pool. He loved to read and could easily engage in conversation with just about anyone, and make them laugh with his witty sense of humor. Most of all, Howard was a loving and wonderful Husband, Father and Pop to his wife, daughters, and his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Diane, are his daughters, Bonny L. (Seldomridge) Marsicano, wife of Robert M. Marsicano, Danbury, CT, and Wendy J. (Seldomridge) Slavish, wife of George Slavish, Collegeville, PA, and his grandchildren, Calan and Lily Scarfone, Ethan Slavish, and Samantha Slavish.
Along with his parents, Howard was preceded in death by a son, Howard Seldomridge.
Howard was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. Services for Howard will be held privately at the request of the family.
Howard's family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the nurses and aides of Lehigh Valley Hospice that offered comfort, care and compassion during his final days at home.
