Howard Lee Shepler age 74 of Colchester, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at his home in Colchester. He was born May 30, 1951, in Carthage, to Harold and Lois Franks Shepler. Howard was united in marriage July 18, 2008, in Macomb, Illinois, to Peggy Peterman, she survives.

Surviving to mourn Howard's passing is his wife Peggy Shepler, 1 son: Brian (Melinda) McFadden, Blandinsville, Illinois, 3 daughters: Jessie (Yukon) Curtis, Macomb, Illinois, Jenny (Matt) Colins, Astoria, Illinois, Elizabeth Kays, Springfield, Illinois, 3 brothers: Keith Shepler and his significant other Carolyn, Monmouth, Illinois, John (Cindy) Shepler, Monmouth, Illinois, Larry Shepler, Fort Worth, Texas, 3 sisters: Sheila Lucero and her significant other Tom, Ottumwa, Iowa, Kathy (Steve) Thompson, Kirkwood, Illinois, Neta Hunt, and her significant other John, Elgin, Texas, as well as 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: Jason Shepler, and 3 brothers: Lonnie Shepler, Kenny Shepler, and Morris Shepler.

Howard was a very avid golfer, he played all of the courses around the area and he was a member of the Twin Oaks Golf Club in Blandinsville. He loved to attend all of his grandkids sporting events, read westerns, and took pride in partaking in yard work. Howard served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked for Melvin Trucking and after his retirement he hauled grain for Clee Dixon. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with all the kids.

Jones Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation rites have been accorded. Friends may view and sign the registrar book Friday, November 28, 2025, from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M at Jones Funeral Chapel in Colchester. No formal services will be held at this time. The memorial is to the family of Howard Shepler. Online condolences and memories may be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com
