Mr. Howard Alden Simonson III, age 70, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at McLeod Loris Hospital. Born on January 27, 1954, in Oneida, New York, he was the son of Edna May Wheeler and Howard Alden Simonson II. Mr. Simonson was a sergeant E5 in the United States Army where he served his country with courage, honor, and distinction. While in the Army, Mr. Simonson was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and qualified as an Expert M16.
Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Simonson; daughter, Nicole Armstrong (Chris), son, Keith A Simonson, step-children, Kellianne McCoy Milliner (David), Megan McCoy Walsh (Sean), Joshua McCoy and Ryan McCoy (Bernice); grandchildren, Michael McCoy, Casey McCoy, Kaitlyn McCoy, Allison Milliner, Madelyn Milliner, John Walsh (Jack), Isabella McCoy, Carlos McCoy, Abigayl Armstrong, Kathen Simonson, and Paisley Simonson, sisters, Frances Camp and Diana Hoag; and brother, Todd Wheeler.
Mr. Simonson was preceded in death by his father, Howard Alden Simonson II and stepfather, Gordon Wheeler.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Ste 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 or to the Horry County Fire Department, 2560 N Main St STE 1, Conway, SC 29526.
