Howard E. Tolbert

Howard Edward Tolbert, 69, of Cincinnati, Ohio received his heavenly wings on Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was born in Cincinnati on July 12, 1953 to the late Howard Young and Bennie Mae Tolbert.
He was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System. Howard worked as a drywall finisher and painter for 45+ years. Affectionately known as Tobe or Pete, he was a genuine and loyal man. Howard was calm, collected, and reliable. His main love was his children and his work. As a father, Howard was the definition of a provider. He was generous, but taught his children the importance of hard work. With his exemplary work ethic, it was natural for him to lead by example. Howard instilled confidence by showing that the happiness and success you could achieve, by simply earning your way to what you wanted in life.
Howard leaves to celebrate his life: his loving children, Brandon Thomas, Sr., Tya Thomas, Howard Thomas, Lamar Thomas, Kayla Thomas, and Aiesha Hodges; 11 grandchildren: Kaniah, Howard, Trevion, Treniah, Tamar, Ka'Leah, Brandon, Jr., Ian, Alysia, Amari, and Ariah; mother of 4 of his children and significant other for 28 years, Janet Thomas; siblings, Ruth Neal, Patricia Blanchard, Carolyn, Dorothy, Robert, and Michael Tolbert. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Howard Young and Bennie Mae Tolbert; brothers: Thomas, Harold, Ernest, and Anthony Tolbert; and sisters, Gwen and Evelyn Tolbert.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Clepper Chapel, 2961 Madison Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45209. Interment: Walnut Hills Cemetery.
