Howard D. Zaehler, age 92 of Niles, Illinois, was united with his wife, mom and dad, brother and other loved ones on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Howard was born on April 13, 1933 to Louis and Frieda Zaehler in Park Ridge, Illinois. He attended Maine East High School and graduated in 1951. He married the love of his life, Patricia Ehrhardt on August 21, 1953. During their 58 years together, they enjoyed camping, square dancing, gardening, spending time with their children and grandchildren and traveling with friends everywhere. Howard served in the army while stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He worked at the US Post Office for 35 years retiring in 1988. He then worked with his son Tim at Ehrhardt’s Trailer Sales for 33 years. Howard is survived by his children, Stephen (Lynne) Zaehler, Barbara (Terry) Pulver, Timothy (Cathy) Zaehler; grandchildren, Steven (Jasmine) Zaehler, Jennifer Zaehler, Adam (Remy) Pulver, Nicholas (Mickenzy) Pulver, Jamie (Eric) Van Den Bergh, Toni (Ryan) Shields, Debra (Joel) Mackintosh, David (Marcy) Zaehler, Karen (Matt) Daum, 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous friends who fondly referred to him as Pa. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 16th at 10:00 am at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Park Ridge. Interment will be held at the Town of Maine Cemetery in Park Ridge with a celebration of life taking place at Moretti’s Restaurant in Elgin 2300 Bushwood Dr, Elgin, IL 60124 beginning at noon.
