Hsiaoshien Sha, 92, peacefully passed away and returned to heavenly home on November 18, 2022, in Alameda, California after a battle with dementia and cancer.
Hsiaoshien was born in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China in 1930. After experiencing the Chinese Civil War, he moved to Taiwan in 1948 and graduated from high school. In 1955, he met his wife, Yuhshiang, in Taipei. While Hsiaoshien worked his way up at the Central Engraving and Printing Plant, Yuhshiang was a homemaker taking care of their three children. At the height of Hsiaoshien's career, he was the Deputy Plant Manager who oversaw hundreds of employees in banknote printing. He retired in 1995 and moved to the United States.
Hsiaoshien loved to travel. He toured the whole island of Taiwan and Kinmen, provinces throughout China, multiple states throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. In his free time, he enjoyed tennis, photography, and calligraphy.
His family will remember Hsiaoshien as a man of gentle disposition who attached great importance to his family and friendship. He was hardworking and honest, and he instilled those values in his children and grandchildren. To his wife, he was loyal and loving throughout their 67 years together. In 2004, Hsiaoshien and Yuhshiang were baptized and became Christians at the Chinese Church in Christ - San Jose. They studied God's word together as a guide for their life and enjoyed the graces of God. Hsiaoshien received care and prayers from the brothers and sisters of the Bay Area Chinese Bible Church before returning to be with the Lord.
He was predeceased by his son, Yu-fen Sha. He is survived by his devoted wife, Yuhshiang; his daughter Shu-fen (Yun-ho) Wang, his son Deven (Yerwen) Sha, and daughter-in-law Pauline; six grandchildren, Yen-Tang Wang, Yen-Hua Wang, Angie Sha, Andrew Sha, Alice Wong, and Jennifer Sha; and four great-grandchildren.
Please join us remembering God's gracious deeds in his life and celebrating his return to the arms of the Father Saturday morning December 3, 2022, between 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Bay Area Chinese Bible Church in Alameda, California.
