Hubert Calhoun Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hubert Calhoun, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather who departed this life on December 1, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on August 3, 1936, Hubert spent his formative years and most of his life in Carrollton, Georgia, where he became a cherished member of the community.
Hubert was a self-employed Master Machinist and Welder. He spent quality time with his family, fishing, gardening and traveling. While at home he enjoyed a quiet evening watching his favorite TV show – Gunsmoke! He and Patricia were members of the Union Grove Christian Church. It was there that he served Jesus selflessly as an Elder and together they spent their lives connecting with those around them, and building a legacy of service that would last an eternity.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and love of his life for 69 years, Patricia Hanson Calhoun; children, Donna (Ray) Grizzard of Carrollton, Debra Caswell of Carrollton, and Phillip W. Calhoun of Roopville; his eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and seven great, great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. He is also survived by his loving brother, Robert Calhoun.
Hubert was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Hubert Calhoun; his mother, Ella Jane Knott Calhoun; son-in-law, Jack Caswell; grandson, John Henson; sister, Lois I.V. Smith; and brother, Hermin Calhoun.
Hubert's life was marked by the love he shared with his family and friends, and his presence will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate Huberts's life will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Mr. Randy Knight, Minister Mike Mallory officiating, and Cason Whitlock will share fond memories. Interment will follow in the Church at Carrollton (Abilene) Cemetery with his grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Friday, December 5, 2025 from noon until the funeral hour.
