Hubert H. McLean, Jr, age 74, known to his family and friends as "Berto", passed away peacefully on April 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 23, 1949. He was the first born to Hubert H. McLean, Sr. and Pearl Editha Bell McLean. Berto grew up in Panama, Republic of Panama. He graduated from Instituto Justo Arosemena in February 1969. He later attended La Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama, before migrating to the U.S. in 1971. He grew up as an Episcopalian and was a true believer of the gospel.
Berto's journey to the United States marked the beginning of a remarkable career filled with diverse accomplishments and unwavering dedication to his passions. He immersed himself in the world of arts and entertainment, showcasing his talents as a budding actor and model.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, he excelled in the realm of finance, utilizing his keen eye for detail and analytical skills to thrive as a bookkeeper. His proficiency in managing finances laid the foundation for his successful tenure as a personal stylist at Nordstrom, where he cultivated enduring relationships with clients for over 25 years. Berto's innate sense of style and flair for fashion made him a trusted advisor, helping individuals discover their unique sense of expression through clothing and accessories. Berto's impeccable taste extended to his personal style, earning him a reputation as a sharp dresser and gentleman of class. His legacy as an accomplished professional and arbiter of style will continue to inspire and influence generations to come.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Berto was a true connoisseur of the finer things in life. He possessed an unparalleled appreciation for art and paintings. He was an avid supporter of the Oscars, Grammys, and media entertainment.
Berto's hobbies included reading for escape, enjoying music's melodies, sharing laughter through jokes, and engaging in playful games. Above all, he treasured quality time with his family, cherishing each moment of connection and creating lasting bonds of love and laughter.
Berto's love for gourmet cooking delighted many, as he meticulously crafted delectable dishes that left taste buds dancing. His favorite word: "Bon Appétit."
In his final years at Autumn Park Assisted Living facility, he found solace and comfort in the compassionate care provided by the staff. Their dedication not only uplifted him but also enriched the lives of all residents, fostering a sense of belonging and love within the community.
Berto was predeceased by his parents and brother, Enrique McLean. Left to celebrate his life are his sisters: Sheila Parks (Phillip), Sharon Winter (Oscar): brother: Guillermo McLean (Marcia); cousin: Carol Dougherty (Michael); nieces: Sophia, Francheska, Najii, Bibi, Deanna and Tamara; nephews: Darren and Derek. Grandnieces: Aryannah, Heather-Grey, Breanna and Monroe; grandnephews: Nasir, Arren, Ahmear, Jiordan, Asa and Caleb. A host of cousins and friends.
