Hubert Darrell Potts

Hubert Darrell Potts, 81, of Lewisport, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born March 11, 1943 in Daviess County to the late Hubert and Edith Roberts Potts. Darrell retired from Commonwealth Aluminum. He was a member of Maceo Baptist Church for 35 years where he was a longtime deacon and treasurer. He graduated from Daviess County High School in 1961. Darrell loved to travel with his wife, Peggy. They had visited 40 states and Canada. In his younger days, he enjoyed horse pulling contests and won in 10 states and Canada with his dad and brother. His hobbies included gardening, UK basketball, and L.A. Dodgers baseball. Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family, especially watching the grandkids activities. His favorite tradition was making homemade ice cream for his family and they got to choose the flavor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Frankie "Gal" Potts; and sisters, Anita Coons and Peggy McDaniel.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Shelton Potts; son, Duane (Donna) Potts; daughter Debra (Leonard) Helm; grandchildren, Garrett (Elizabeth) Helm, Hannah Helm, Olivia Potts, and Mason Potts; great-grandchildren, Raegan, Peyton and Hazelyn Helm; brother, Sam Potts; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Services will be live-streamed at www.davisfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
