Hubert Alfred "Skip" Vighetti Jr., 74, St. Augustine, died January 24, 2024 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Abington, PA and had moved here from Pennsylvania in 2014. After graduation from high school he became an automobile mechanic until the age of 35. He then switched careers to be a scratch baker and continued to do so until he retired. In 1969 he married his high school sweetheart, Claire Vighetti (nee Lewis) and they were married for 54 years until her passing just 3 months ago. Skip loved cars and all kinds of racing, including NASCAR and NHRA. The only thing he loved more than cars was his family, especially his grandchildren, and he could always be found fixing things for the family as a way to show his love. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
A memorial mass will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday March 22, 2024 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made in his memory to S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue.
He is survived his son, Stephen Vighetti (Tara); grandchildren, Owen and Amelie; sisters in law, Bernadette Vighetti, Connie Roman, and Rose Marie Lewis as well as and many many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Alfred Vighetti Sr., his mother Mary Scatarige, and a brother, Lee Vighetti.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
