Hugh Duane Finison, 81, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, October 4, 2024. He was born on June 3, 1943, in Guilford County, NC to the late Herbert Derwood and Margaret Crutchfield Finison. He was their only son whom they loved and cherished tremendously. Hugh was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 33 years, Ki Sun Kang Finison.
Hugh worked most of his life for ABB Electric in Greensboro, NC before retiring in 2008.He was a member of Korean First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC and an avid fan of Duke basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed collecting coins, baseball cards, and a variety of other sports and history memorabilia. Hugh and his wife traveled to Korea a few times over the years, and looked forward to every opportunity they had to visit their daughters and grandchildren in the Southport/Oak Island area of NC and Murrells Inlet, SC.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Ki Sun Kang Finison of the home; two stepdaughters, Tanya Yow and husband, Chris, of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Gia Cook and husband, Devan, of Bolivia, NC; four grandchildren, Justin Thomas and wife, Grace, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Quincy Holmes of Oak Island, NC, Keely Andrews of Supply, NC, and Rylan Cook of Bolivia NC; one great-granddaughter, Kaliyah Randolph of Supply, NC; and his very best friend since childhood, Robert Phillips of Cary, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00pm Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kiseok Kim. The family will receive friends from 2:30pm to 3:45pm Tuesday prior to the service, and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Korean First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC.
