Hugh David "Dave" Jones, 82, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Born on January 1, 1943, in Pontypridd, Wales, United Kingdom, to the late David Morley and Edith Mary Jones, he embarked on a journey that would lead him across the globe, ultimately making his home in the United States.

Dave made significant contributions to the petroleum industry across his esteemed career, ending with Husky Lima Refinery. His passion for innovation and problem-solving was evident in both his professional endeavors and his personal pursuits.

Beyond his engineering achievements, Dave was known for his love of 356 Porsches, Formula 1, vintage aircraft, and when younger, building and racing Formula Vee in Sports Car Club of America. He was always generous with his knowledge and time in these pursuits. He relished sharing these passions with fellow enthusiasts.

Dave was a proud member of the Royal Air Force, a service that cultivated his sense of duty and commitment to excellence. His legacy of service continued throughout his life, impacting all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Dave is survived by his loving spouse, Janet Matthews, his sisters Mair Ward and Gwenda Page; his sons Bryn Jones, Gareth Jones, and Alan Jones and daughter Hilary Maya; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dave's memory to the Center for Biological Diversity or the charity of choice, reflecting his commitment to making a positive difference in the world.

Dave will be deeply missed by his wife, many friends and acquaintances, but his spirit will forever live on in their hearts.
