It was always a spirit-lifter to be with Hugh in the New Garden Meeting choir. He had a heart-warming smile, a lovely tenor voice, and a knowledgeable, passionate love of music. ( And his collection of unique bolo "ties" was impressive too.)
I send loving thoughts and prayers for comfort to you, Joan, and to all your family.

Mr. Hugh Vickers was truly a role-model to me. He was my athletic trainer (basketball and track) at Marion High School in the mid-1960s. Also, he was quite instrumental in my decision to attend Earlham College. Mr. Vickers affected the lives of so many in such a positive way. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
Peace be with You.
