Hugh Wedding Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory - Owensboro on Feb. 18, 2026.
Hugh Douglas Wedding, 79, of Owensboro, went home to Heaven with his loving son, Scott Wedding, by his side on February 16, 2026. He was born January 28, 1947 in Owensboro to the late Robert Lee Wedding and Eva Grace Dennison Wedding. Hugh loved the Lord, his family and nature. He graduated from Daviess County High School and Clear Creek Bible College. He held many titles during his years on Earth, husband, dad, brother, uncle, granddad, and friend; but his greatest title and comfort was child of God. He had a servant's heart and gladly gave up his time and life to care for others. Hugh loved God, flowers, riding in the country, tending to his lawn, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. He would say it's such a beautiful day God has given us.

He began his career at Premium Allied Tool, pastored several churches, and retired from the Daviess County Board of Education after 18 years of service as grounds supervisor and custodial support. Hugh retired to care for his ailing wife, Betsy Burns Wedding, who he was married to from 1965 to 2007.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betsy Burns Wedding; second wife, Martha Young Wedding; daughter, Stephanie Aileen Wedding; son, Scott Douglas Wedding; and siblings, Robbie Wedding, Randall E. Wedding, and Brenda Rager.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are daughters, Beth Nash (Greg) and Tammy Stewart (Emmett); sons, Ronnie Mullen, Randy Mullen, Lee Mullen (Mary); grandchildren, Jade Lily Nash (Kris Walters), Michael Stewart (Lisa), Amber Fowler (Bobby), Josh Mullen, Gracie Mullen, and Austin Mullen; great-grandchildren, Michael Stewart, Lexi Stewart, Annabelle Stewart, Heaven Fowler, Madison Stewart, Brooke Stewart, and Emmett Clark; siblings, Rev. James Wedding (Susan), Louis Wedding (Brenda), Arthur Wedding (Vicki), Mary Haffard (Joseph), Carolyn Jones (Jack), Karen Hartweck (Joe), and Lynn Gray (Richard); sister-in-law, Ann Wedding; brother-in-law, Gary Rager; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Opportunity Center, 1101 E. Byers Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42303.
