Hugh Williams

Sammy "Hugh" Williams, age 92 of Marble Falls, Texas was called to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Hugh was born in Frederick, Oklahoma September 12, 1929 to Opal "Lucille" Moon and Hubert Avery Williams. Hugh started working in the grocery store when he was a very young boy. He knew from the start that making a dollar was hard work but was very driven to do so for his family. He met the love of his life, Wanda Lee Williams and they were married September 8, 1952 in Fort Smith Arkansas. They had quite the love affair that lasted for 68 ½ years. Hugh served his country proudly serving 2 years in the Marine Corps and was a natural leader from the start. He reenlisted in the U.S. Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman which he excelled and was recognized with many accolades and was awarded the Naval Accommodation bronze star medal. He served proudly in the Korean and the Vietnam War. Once leaving the military, he proudly went back into the Grocery business. He had a great passion for produce and knew just the way to design the shelves to make it look beautiful and enticing. He became the Produce Operations Manager for HEB. He retired as the Vice President of the Epicurean Rice Foods in Houston Texas. Family was everything to him. Hugh was a special man and touched so many hearts with his kindness and devotion. Hugh loved his wife Wanda deeply and was a devoted father to all of his children. He was so proud of his 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Hugh will be missed deeply by all of his family. To cherish his memory, Hugh leaves behind his daughters LaWanda Cook and her husband Mark, Sami Lunsford and her husband Billy. Brother Jimmy Williams and wife Sally Williams. Brother in law Dan Marek. He is preceded in death by his parents; Lucille and Hubert Williams, Sister Ann Marek, and nephew Paul Marek. Sons; Phillip Douglas Williams, James Hugh "Chip" Williams. Wife; Wanda Lee Williams. Father and Mother in law; Frank and Bessie Calico. Brothers in law; Vernon and Larry Calico, Sisters in law; Pat and Terry Calico and Ginger Gorges.
