Hunter Scott McCrary, 25, was born on November 7, 1998, in DeRidder, Louisiana, and left this world on October 6, 2024. His passing has left a void that can never be filled and has brought immeasurable sorrow to those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved daughter who was his one true love, Adalynn Grace McCrary of Flatwoods; his devoted parents, Stephen and Barbra McCrary of Leesville; his cherished brother, Clinton Scott McCrary, and wife, Lindsey of Leesville; and nieces and nephew AnnaClaire, Kaiden, and Camryn. He is also mourned by his maternal grandparents, Pete and Sheila Scanlon of Leesville, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who held him dear.
Hunter was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Stephen & Molly Ann McCrary.
Hunter found true joy and happiness in being the best daddy to Adalynn. His loyalty to family and friends was unwavering. A good friend to many, he was always there when needed most, a listener with no judgement and a fierce protectiveness for those he loved.
His skill on the basketball court, which led to him being a two-time State Champion during his time at Anacoco High School, was just one facet of his vibrant personality. More than his athletic prowess, it was Hunter's open heart that truly defined him. His infectious laugh and quick, sarcastic wit could brighten even the darkest days, a testament to the warmth he brought to all who knew him.
He was a hard worker who poured his heart into every task he undertook. Hunter was most proud of his accomplishment of becoming a lineman. This occupation also exhibited his deep compassion for helping others. He met countless people from all different worlds, and his larger than life presence will not soon be forgotten.
In remembrance of Hunter's vibrant spirit, which touched so many lives deeply, the visitation will occur on Friday, October 11, from 10:30 a.m. until service time at Family Worship Center in Leesville. The funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Mike Jackson alongside Bro Keith Harris.
The interment will follow at Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
As we say our final farewells, may we find comfort in knowing that, though gone too soon, his laughter lingers still within our hearts forevermore and he is resting in the arms of Jesus.
Pallbearers include Tanner Dowden, Stephen Young, Chris Young, Micheal Young, Kenneth Sanders, and Timothy Sanders. Cory Bailey holds honorary pallbearer status.
May you rest now among angels, dear Hunter-you'll be missed more than words can express-but your memory shall live on eternally...

Hunter was a great kid; he taught my kids to play basketball by way of him and his family opening their driveway goal to my children. He and my children would swim in the channel behind his house, which I never knew and would not have been okay with, but they had a ball is what counted. He and his parents were my neighbors for several years when we moved to Anacoco and they were always a help to me and my family. My heart goes out for Hunter and to his famioly as well. I pray Gods comfort and healing power as they go through this hard time. I pray Hunter a blessed sleep and that he awakens to the embrace of God.
