Hushang John Golestani

Hushang John Golestani, age 93, of Hurley, NY, passed away on Dec. 24, 2025, in Kingston, NY after a brief illness.

John was born on Aug. 20, 1932 in Tehran, Iran to parents Aziz and Heshmat Golestani.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deborah (Debbie), sons Clark and wife Sasha, John Jr. and wife Lori; stepchildren William McIntosh and wife Maria, Jaclyn DeCicco and partner Luke, Chris DeCicco and wife Lindsay, grandchildren Jared, Lexi, Braden, Noah, Erin, Danielle, Ray, and Pepper, his sister-in-law Mahshid, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, Ata and Dariush.

John spent his early years in Iran before immigrating to New York in 1948 at the age of 16. He attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor before settling in New York's Hudson Valley, where he became a partner in a luxury car dealership in 1976, later becoming the President and Owner of Spartan Motors in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1978.

He ran the dealership until his retirement in the early 1990s, when he went on to start Titan Luxury Homebuilders. He was a well-respected business leader in Dutchess County, and gave generously to many community organizations.

John was loved by his friends and family, and known for his sense of humor, laughter, and kindness. He enjoyed traveling, fine food, birdwatching and being outside taking in the sun with Debbie.

He had an active social life and enjoyed spending time with his many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. For the last 3 years, his special joy was spending time with his granddaughter Pepper, eating breakfast with her, reading books to her, and going on outings together.

The family will hold a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Center for Spectrum Services
