Logan, UT: Hyrum Gary Niederhauser, 89, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026.
Gary was born July 13, 1936 in Logan, Utah to Hyrum Niederhauser and Thelma Julia Cifford.
Gary graduated from South Cache High School. He served an LDS mission to the Central Atlantic States Mission. After completing his mission he returned home and attended Utah State University for his bachelor's degree in Political Science. He served in the military. He then attended Brigham Young University for his masters degree in Education Administration.
He taught seminary/institute for the LDS Church in Delta, Utah. He married Geraldine Jorgensen in the Logan Temple on August 4, 1967. After marriage he taught in Grace, ID and Redwood City, CA. A few years later he returned to the family business Niederhauser Construction. Eventually forming his own company with son Gavin; G and G Niederhauser Construction Company.
Gary had a great love for hiking up Logan Canyon. He enjoyed traveling with his family. Family was the cornerstone of his life. Gary taught Sunday School and was a counselor of the Logan 20th ward Bishopric.
Gary is survived by his wife Geraldine Niederhauser, daughter Bonnie (Jeffery) Harms, Stone Mountain, GA, Son Nathan (Mariana Rosenthal) Niederhauser, Olympia, WA, Son Gavin (Melissa) Niederhauser, Smithfield, UT, Daughter Marissa Rae Niederhasuer, Seattle WA. 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 grand pet, 3 sisters Bonnie (Ross) Whatcott, Riverton, UT, Janiel Prisbrey, North Ogden, UT, Saundra (Robert) Merritt Afton, WY, and 1 brother Terry (Erma) Niederhauser, Benjamin, UT. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother Delmont Niederhauser and brother-in-law Dean Prisbrey.
He was a warm host father to foreign exchange students: Kjetil Granum, Norway, Thomas Granum, Norway, Katja Suding, Germany.
Funeral Services will be held at the Hilcrest Church 875 North 1500 East Logan, UT on Thursday January 15, 2026 at 11:00 am.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Hilcrest Church 875 North 1500 East Logan, UT Thursday January 15, 2026 at 10:30 am.
Interment will be held in the Logan City Cemetery.
