Hython Moses Cushion

Deacon Hython Moses Cushion, age 90, a native and resident of the Salitpa Community of Jackson, AL was born December 6, 1932 to the parentage of the late Mr. Ollie Cushion and the late Mrs. Para Lee Peavy. Mr. Cushion departed this life March 27, 2023 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, Mobile, AL.
He was educated in the Clarke County Public School System and graduated from Clarke County Training School, Coffeeville, AL.
Deacon Cushion was a life-long, faithful, and dedicated member of Good Hope Baptist Church (Salitpa) where he served as Superintendent of the Sunday School and as a Deacon. He loved the Lord and would do all he could to help his fellowman without expecting anything in return.
He was employed for many years as an operator with Ciba-Geigy Corporation McIntosh, from whence he retired as an Operator.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lodge #866, currently, Jackson Masonic Lodge #139. He worked dutifully with the Salitpa Volunteer Fire Department. His most favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Deacon Cushion was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Cora Jane Cushion, a brother, Willie G. Beckham; two sons, Nathaniel Dunigan and *Jerry L. Dunigan; step-mother, Bessie Cushion; a sister, Jeanette Walker, and a cousin, Rosa Lee Cox.
He will be cherished in the hearts of his loving and devoted children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren:

Grandchildren: Merlisa and Merkyndall
Great-granddaughter: Paisley
Jennifer Cushion of Jackson, AL
*Grandson: Patrick Viverette
Great-grandchildren: De'Asia, Isaac, Nathan, and Nyla
He will also be cherished in the hearts of two sisters-in-law, Gwen Jarvis of Montgomery, AL and Lallie Beckham of Jackson, AL. A host of other relatives and friends mourn his passing also.
