Ida Mae Dolliole

Ida Mae Esteen Dolliole, of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on August 2, 2025, at the age of 89. Ida was born in Plaquemine, LA on March 3, 1936. She was the second of ten children, including brothers and sisters Mary, Melba Fae, Carolyn Ann, John Jr., Clarence, Barry, Larry, Sharon and Shermond, born to John Esteen, Sr. and Mary Ella Bridgewater Esteen. Her parents, sisters Mary and Melba Fae, and brother Larry have predeceased her. Ida attended Joseph S. Clark High School and as a U.S. Air Force Military Spouse traveled extensively across the globe with her immediate family. She was a top seller of Life Insurance for many years. Ida later flourished as an entrepreneur operating and managing multiple restaurants before becoming the sole proprietor of Dolliole's in New Orleans, a city known for its hospitality and world-renowned cuisine. Ida is survived by her children Kevin (Janice Flint) Dolliole, Sr., Steven Dolliole, Sr., Andre' (Kimberly Balancier) Dolliole; son-in-law Michael Hermanspahn; sisters; Carolyn Ann Hankton, Sharon Refuge (Mike); brothers: John Esteen, Jr. (Marie), Clarence Esteen, Sr., Barry Esteen, Sr. (Adrienne) and Shermond Esteen, Sr., (Jozell); brother-in-law Isaiah Vining, Sr. and sister-in-law Jeanette Sylvester; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her spouse Henry Louis Dolliole, Jr., daughters Pamela Dolliole Hermanspahn and Lynn Dolliole, and brothers-in-law Randall Forstall, Sr., Lloyd Dolliole, Sr., Earl Hankton, Sr., and sister-in-law Karen Esteen. Known for her Naturally New Orleans hospitality, fun-spirited personality and tasty Creole-soul cooking, Ida passionately served others both personally and professionally throughout her entire life. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of Corpus Christi Catholic Church are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Ave., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 10:00am.
