Idalia "Mimi" Walgren, a beloved teacher's assistant, cherished mother, and devoted wife, passed away on August 8, 2025, in Glen Burnie, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. She was born on January 10, 1972, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A proud graduate of Paint Branch High School, Class of 1990, Mimi dedicated her career to shaping young minds at Ridgeway Elementary School and throughout the Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Her patience, enthusiasm, and unwavering support for her students made her an integral part of the educational community. Many who crossed her path remember her not only for her ability to guide children but also for the joy she brought into their lives.

Mimi’s passions extended beyond the classroom; she revelled in arts and crafts, delighting in floral design and arranging, and took immense pleasure in cooking for family and friends. Whether working on a creative project or preparing a family meal, she embraced every opportunity to share her talents and bring comfort to those she loved. A passionate fan of the Baltimore Ravens, Mimi often donned her team colors and cheered them on with infectious enthusiasm, creating memorable moments filled with spirited camaraderie.

Family was at the heart of Mimi’s life. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Bradley K. Walgren, who stood by her side through every cheer and tear. Her children, Vyctoria Ettyce Thomas and Gabriel Saul Walgren, were the pride of her life; her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, Darryl Santos Thomas and Dominic Santana Thomas, whom she adored beyond words. Mimi is also remembered by her brothers, Hiram G. Santos and Saul Santos, who share cherished memories of growing up with her, as well as her best friend, Sonja Peterson Hughes, whose bond with Mimi will forever hold a special place in her heart.

Mimi was predeceased by her parents, Hiram and Maria Santos, whose love and guidance shaped the vibrant woman she became. Their spirits live on in the values she imparted to her family, reminding us all of the importance of kindness, resilience, and family connections.

In a gesture of love and remembrance, we invite those attending her memorial service to consider wearing the color purple in her honor, celebrating the vibrant spirit and warmth that Mimi brought to our lives. Her laughter, love, and dedication to her family and community will forever be etched in our hearts, an everlasting reminder of a life well-lived and a spirit that continues to shine brightly.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Friday, Aug. 15th from 11-1 pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. The Memorial Service will be livestreamed via Zoom at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87928233779
