Obituary published on Legacy.com by Collins & Stone Funeral Home on Feb. 25, 2025.
Idella Scott a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, was born on April 8, 1943 to Clarence and Evester Brown. From an early age, Idella embraced her faith, accepting Christ at Bethel Baptist Church. Later, she became a dedicated member of Allen Chapel AME Church, where she served faithfully under the leadership of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Idella's greatest joy in life was her marriage to her best friend and soulmate, Cornell Scott. Together, they enjoyed 46 years of unwavering love and companionship, exemplifying the beauty of true love and serving as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Idella worked at Camcar Distributors Center for over 25 years before retiring to enjoy a well-deserved life of leisure. She was a woman of many talents and passions; she was a skilled seamstress, creating beautiful clothing for her family and for many nieces and nephews throughout the years. Her love for fashion extended beyond clothing, as she was known for her extensive collection of hats in a variety of colors and styles. In addition, Idella had an eloquent talent for jewelry making, designing unique pieces that kept her family and friends stylish with one-of-a-kind creations, including earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Her artistic spirit and generous heart were evident in the handmade gifts she shared with those fortunate enough to receive them. Idella was known for her immense love, kindness, and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many who knew her.
More importantly, she knew where her gifts came and that was from God. Idella loved the Lord, with all her heart, mind and soul. All her life she that all her strength came from God so she dedicated herself not only for her family but to the church. She served in various capacities at Allen until her health decline. Idella was a faithful member of the Lay Organization for more than twenty five years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Cornell Scott; her twin daughters, Benita Baker and Belinda Young; and her cherished grandchildren: Tyvis Johnson, Davonis Johnson, Jimorrio Tucker, James McCorkle, Jacenda McCorkle, and Jayla McCorkle. Idella also leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Sam and Indy, who provided her with comfort and joy. Devoted sister, Galvester Peer of Cedar Hills, TX. Devoted brothers Clarence (Mary) Brown Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Clarence Edward (Mary) Brown of Madison, WI, and Donald (Marye) Brown of
Rockford, IL. In addition, she is survived by her step-siblings, John L. (Elizabeth) Marks of Indianapolis IN; James D(Molly) Brown, Sara Ann (Rev. Bennie) Reed, Roberta (Ricardo) Hicks, Patty Nolan, Bobbie Cooper and Ruth "Sue" Morgan, all of
Rockford, IL. She is also remembered by her uncle, Verner (Etta Pearl) Brown, special cousin, Florence Buckley, as well as host of nieces, nephews cousin, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving parents and son Sedric Brown.
Idella was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
