Ila Park Austin, age 94, of Denton passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at her residence under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice.
Mrs. Austin was born on September 18, 1930 in Washington County to the late Willie Morris Park and the late Carrie Cochran Park. She was a retired teacher, having taught for 35 years for the Jeff Davis County Board of Education. Mrs. Austin was a devoted member of Union Springs Baptist Church for over 70 years and was a Sunday School teacher. She was also the founding business manager of Austin Home Health. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Gwenell Austin, a grandson, Luke Austin, two great granddaughters, Lauren & Lindsey Austin, sister, Lila (Hugh) Fletcher, brothers, Allen (Faye) Park, Willie Park, and Hugh (June) Park, brothers-in-law, Ellis Courson and Noah Holton; and parents-in-law, S.G.& Lena Clifton Austin, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 73 years, S.G. Austin of Denton; son, John Austin of Denton; grandson, Matt (Cindy) Austin of Broxton; and great grandchildren, Hannah Austin and Kaci Austin both of Broxton; sisters Chloe (Jim) Corbett of West Green and Louise Holton of Lake Wales, FL; and sister-in-law, Juawan Park of Douglas.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Merle Webster officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be George Boyd, Roy Colson, Ronnie Hayes, Dane Ussery, David Foskey, and Phillip Knowles.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
