Rocky Mount, NCMrs. Ilender Reynolds Baker, age 75, transitioned on June 16, 2025 at her residence.
IIlender R. Baker, daughter of the late Willis and Marie Reynolds was born October 15, 1949 in Nash County. She gained her heavenly wings on Monday June 16, 2025. She was 75 years old and she was united in holy matrimony on January 28, 1997 to William H. Baker Jr.
Ilender graduated from Nash Central High School in the year 1967. She never met a stranger and was loved by so many. She enjoyed making you laugh over a great meal that she had prepared for whomever wanted to eat. She had a heart of gold and to many she was known as a diva. She wasn't just known to have one child, she had many. She brought sunshine to all that crossed her path and encouraged them when needed. She was always willing to listen to you and give the advice that she thought would make things alright. Ilender was just a delight to be around and she will be truly missed.
Ilender was preceded in death by four sisters: Sheila Reynolds, Joann Whitfield, Debra R. Arrington, Cynthia Patricia Lynch, and one brother, Curtis Reynolds.
She leaves to cherish her devoted husband, William H. Baker Jr. of
Rocky Mount, NC; her children: Tarji J. Sherrod (Billy), Juanita Battle (Cowboy) Stacey L. Staton, Montina B. Hodges (Adrian), Raymond A. Staton (Ebony), Dwan Pittman (Nytisha), Denise S. Dickens (James), Steve Clarke (Sharon) all of
Rocky Mount, NC, Curtis Raymond of Greensboro, NC, Jermaine Parker (Sonya) of Wilson, NC, Johncyne Summer (Late Harvest) of and Derrick Jones; three grandchildren: Julleon A. McNair, Xavier J. Jones, and Aaron L. Hodges all of Rocky Mount; and many many other grandchildren that she truly loved. She has five brothers and five sisters living: Willis Reynolds Jr. (Diana) of Illinois, Alton Reynolds Sr. (Gloria) of Aurora Co., Diann R. Thompson (JT) of Dallas TX, Sandra R. Clayton (Raymond) of Arlington TX, Ronald W. Reynolds of
Rocky Mount, NC, Gail R. Grady (Wayne) of
Rocky Mount, NC, Fontella R. Arp (Billy) of Nashville, NC, Antonia R. Cleveland (Rev. Cecil), Lillian S. Fruster (late Donald) and the late Shirley Staton. She also has one living aunt, Queen Wiggins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, many loving friends, and a very special person, Vanessa Taylor (caregiver).
A Visitation will be held for Mrs. Baker on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Truth Tabernacle, 704 Arlington Street,
Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow the service in the Gardens of Gethsemane in
Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
