Illona S. Grieve

Illona S. Grieve, age 77, of Willowick, passed away on March 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, conversation, and deep family devotion. She was born on June 5, 1948, to the late John and Helen Evanko.

Illona was a woman who truly thrived on connection. For over 30 years, she was a familiar and friendly face at Hair Etc., where she served her community as a talented hairdresser. Known for her "gift of gab," Illona didn't just style hair; she built lasting friendships, listened to stories, and kept her finger on the pulse of her community. Her social nature and genuine interest in others made her a cherished fixture in the lives of many.

Above all else, Illona's heart belonged to her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Bill Grieve, with whom she shared 42 wonderful years of marriage. She was an unwavering source of support for her children and found her greatest joy in her role as a grandmother. Whether she was sharing a story or attending a family event, her pride in her grandchildren was always evident.

Illona is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her children, BJ (Angela) Grieve and Michael (Kayla) Grieve; and her cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Annie, and Casey. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Evelyn Evanko, her niece Sue Evanko (husband John, deceased), and her nephew Tim (Cheryl) Evanko.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Evanko.

Visitation & Service Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake, OH 44095. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 7:00 PM.

Illona will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love of a good conversation, and her total dedication to those she loved most.
