Ilona Ploof Obituary
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong Ewing resident. Ilona was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, class of 1951. Upon graduation she entered the St Francis School of Nursing graduating in 1954 with her ADN/RN degree and pursued her passion for nursing at St Francis Medical Center for a long and distinguished 40+ years in the O.R.
She was a member of the Bordentown Elks, the National Nurses Association of OR Nurses, the West End Soccer Association and an alumni of Trenton State College. Ilona enjoyed traveling, fishing and gardening but her true passion was spending time at her home(s) away from home in LBI and the casino's in A.C.
A loving and loved wife, mother, grand mother and great grand mother she is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years Robert; her children Robert Jr. (Debbie), Joann, Michael and John (Kathy). Grandchildren; Michelle (Rahul), Meaghan, Ryan, Alex, Michael Jr., Liz, Christopher and Great grand daughter Millie. Her dear cousins Sandy Nagy (Joan), son Stevie, and John Baky, Sister-in-law Erma Nacker and nephews Richard and Randy. Ilona had the great fortune to have a second family of life long best friend Geri (Wargo) Ahern, God daughter Michelle (Ahern) Apgar, husband Walt, children; Lauren, Mike and Matt as well as "Big" Walt, Lisa and Linda.
Ilona lived life with a "This too shall pass" philosophy. She "fought the good fight", was at peace and in the end, did in fact "Go gentle into the good night"! Words cannot convey how deeply she was loved nor how deeply she will be missed!

I know Ploof that what everyone used to call her at St Francis Hospital. She was truly a great friend we always talk when l came down for supplies which she worked in minor surgery.Truly she will be missed. Your friend , Marianne Kent

I met Ilona when I was working at Robbins many years ago. She was such a day brighter with a superb sense of humor, and we developed a nice friendship. I´m so glad our paths crossed.
I send my sincere sympathy to you all, and wish you peaceful hearts full of special memories of a special lady.
