It is with deep sorrow at the passing of Ilse Eugenie Kuehn (nee Eickenberg) on July 20, 2025 in Soligen, Germany at the age of 90. Ilse was born on April 6, 1935 in Reit, Germany to parents Eugenie and Ferdinand Eickenberg, preceded in death. Beloved wife of the late Gerhard Kuehn for over sixty years. Dear mother to her only son Michael (Jan Pinotti) and daughter of Ute Kuehn, preceded in death, (the late Sigmund Konopotski). Dear grandmother to Alexander Kuehn (Mandy), Christine Kuehn, Zachary Kuehn (Rose), Jonathan Kuehn and four great grandchildren. Ilse was the cherished sister of seven siblings; survived by Erika Kopp, and preceded in death by Ursula Hofsadt, Giesela Oberholz, Sigriet Lohmuller, Dieter Eickenberg, and Ferdinand Eickenberg. Ilse was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Ilse and her late husband Gerhard moved their family to Chicago, IL in 1969 developing many connections and friends in their new life in the U.S. Years later, they moved to Massachusetts in 1986 for work and lived there nine years, before moving back to Solingen, Germany in 1995 where they lived out the rest of their lives together. Ilse sang in the German Women's Choir in Chicago for many years. She worked in the freight forwarding industry for twenty years dealing with global customers. Ilse will be remembered for her good nature, and cooking some family favorite dishes like Chicken Ragu, Pork Schnitzel, and Christmas cookies. Ilse liked German inspired Christmas decorations, small trinkets, and tea towels. She was an avid reader, with one of her favorite authors being Andrew Greeley. Ilse will be laid to rest with her late husband Gerhard at Parkfriedhof-Grafrath in Solingen, Germany.
