Imogene L. Johnson, 67 years old of South Bend, IN passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Imogene was born on September 14, 1957 to Lizzie Bigsby. She was adopted by Grady and Ideria Thompson soon after in South Bend, IN. Imogene was preceded in death by parents Ideria and Grady Thompson, Lizzie Bigsby, ex-spouse Lionel S. Johnson, son, Lionel R. Johnson, brother, Cornelious "Mickey" Williams. Imogene graduated from Lasalle High School in 1976. In 1976, she married Lionel S. Johnson and moved to Germany to start a family while he was enlisted in the United States Army. She had her daughter Latoya in 1978 then son Lionel "LJ" in 1982. They moved around with the Army until 1996 when Lionel retired.

In 1996 her family moved back to South Bend where she was employed at Nyloncraft, Jackson Middle School, and Frank's Place. Her last job was working at the Walmart Pharmacy. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Latoya Johnson of South Bend, her grandkids, Jayda and Calvin Strickland of South Bend, two sisters, Robin (Charles) Crump and Michelle Thompson both of South Bend and a whole host of family and friends. She bravely fought cancer since 2021. She was a tough little cookie. She fought a good fight and was stubborn until the end. She loved music, her family and driving fast.

A memorial service will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN.
