Imre J Pinter

Imre J Pinter, 90 of Peoria, IL passed away on Wednesday Oct. 22, 2025 at home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1934 in Csepel, Hungary to Imre and Iren (Solymosi) Pinter. He Married Marie-Christine Gecse on October 8, 1960 in Belgium.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Marie-Christine (Gecse) Pinter, his 4 children, Dominique Kreie Of Colorado, Patricia (Randy) Greenway of Illinois, Pascale Pinter of Belgium, Michel (Michelle) Pinter of Florida.
5 grandchildren, Danielle (Dan) Kreie of CA, Nicholas (Lex) Greenway of WA, Adam Greenway of IL, Luke Pinter of Fl. and Kaleb Akuatse of Belgium. And one great grandson Dean Greenway of WA.
His sister Gabriella (Gabor) Rohrer of Belgium, his brother Frans (Sonia) Pinter of Hungary. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Eva Pinter, his son in law Bob Kreie and his grandson Damien Kreie.
Imre grew up in Hungary and left there in 1956. He moved to Belgium where he met his wife, got married and had a daughter. They moved to the United States in 1961 where he had 3 more children. Being homesick they decided to move back to Belgium in 1969 and in 1977 came back to the United States.
Imre loved spending time with family and friends and had a passion for traveling. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife and sharing desserts with her.
Imre retired from Caterpillar in 1999.
Visitation will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday November 4, 2025, at 9:30am followed by a mass at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Midwest Affiliate or the Sun Foundation in Washburn Illinois.
