India Ballard Williams was called home on October 26, 2024, at 79. She was born in Snowflake, Arizona, to William Ballard Sr. and Roxy Ballard (Amos). She was one of five children. She had three biological children and chose many more.
India was a dedicated teacher who devoted much of her career to special education. Even after she retired she found ways to contribute to the education of so many children. India’s life mission was to sew into the lives of children.
As a mom, grandmother, and teacher, India loved fiercely. She was a collector of people. India did not simply know people; she claimed them with authority. It was a blessing to be one of the people that belonged to her.
India was a woman of many talents. She was a beautiful painter, crafter, and maker of things. India loved to play games and used them as a way to form lasting connections. She loved the mountains, they spoke to her. India's house was always full of love and laughter.
India was preceded in death by William Ballard Sr., her father; Roxy Ballard, her mother; William Ballard Jr., Ronald Ballard, her brothers; Paula Jean Ballard, her sister; Don Williams Jr., her son and Ryland Montgomery, her grandson.
India was survived by India George (Chuck George), Dawn Williams-Banks, Jennifer Williams, and Jeana Martin (Brent Martin), her daughters; Rebecca Vermon (Michael Vermon), her sister; and her many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all those who belonged to her.
India is being cremated. There will be a memorial service held this coming spring in Arizona. Details to come at a later date. Her Daughters are asking that in lieu of sending them flowers send a bouquet to an elderly person who needs some cheer from their Momma.
