Inez Ellen Lewis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on May 31, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 11, 1936, in Greencastle, Indiana, Inez lived a life rich in love, laughter, and family.
Inez was married to her devoted husband, Charles S. Lewis. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and shared passions. Inez was a proud mother to three daughters: Terri Dean, Marcy Wood, and Mackie Brown, who brought her immense joy and pride and step-daughter Elizabeth Brown. Her legacy extends to her beloved granddaughters, Amber Eubank, Danielle Short-Wood, Megan Wood-Freeman, Crystal Heimes, and Heather Hayes and great grandchildren, Elijah Hendricks and Aubrey Hayes who have fondly carried forward her spirit and zest for life
Inez was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and only son, Fred “Fritz” Aubrey Jr., whose memory she held dear throughout her life.
Inez had a profound love for golfing and reading, which brought her both relaxation and joy. An avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts, she passionately followed the team, exhibiting unwavering loyalty and enthusiasm. Inez loved spending time with her family. She would happily talk for hours sharing stories.
Her family remembers Inez not only for her interests but also for her warmth, kindness, and the indelible mark she made on those around her. Her strength of character and nurturing nature will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A viewing will be held in her honor on June 9, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan - Speedway, located at 2950 North High School Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman who meant so much to so many.
