Ingrid Octavia Dunn, affectionately known as "Gumma", was born in
Mobile, AL on July 18, 1960, to John and Mattie Lee. Born the tenth of eleven children and raised in Trinity Gardens, strong family values and community ties were instilled in her from the start. Ingrid accepted Christ at an early age, and her life has been a testament of His grace as doctors did not expect that her heart complications would allow her to live beyond 6 yrs old.
Ingrid graduated from Blount High School in 1978, and she went on to pursue a fulfilling career in childcare. Over the years, she formed lasting bonds with the children she cared for, many of whom kept in touch with her well into their adult lives. Ingrid was a faithful lifetime member of Nazaree Full Gospel Church and Order of the Eastern Star. Ingrid is predeceased by her husband Benjamin Dunn Sr., son Benjamin Dunn Jr., mother and father John and Mattie Lee, brothers Lee Armstead, Michael Lee, and sisters Patricia Henderson and Tommie Dotson. Ingrid is survived by her devoted god daughters, Nakeita N. Black and Jade V. Davis. She is also survived by six siblings: Sandra (Marvin) Langham, Camilla (Larry) Edwards, William (Debra) Armstead, Elizabeth (Phillip) Pugh, John (Debra) Lee, and Todd Lee; aunts: Emma and Eva George; sister-in-law Cynthia Dunn and brother-in-law Melvin Dunn. Also, cherished and devoted friends of 40 years Jackie Bush, Doris White, and Denise Eaton. Ingrid leaves behind a host of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Above all, Ingrid loved her family. Her tireless dedication to family unity was unmatched. She organized annual Labor Day picnics and rallied the family together every year for the Trinity Gardens' parade. Her warm spirit always drew everyone together and made everyone feel included and loved. She had a special gift for baking cakes which were always in high demand. Ingrid's legacy of family unity and love will be carried on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
Ingrid shared an unbreakable bond with her nieces and nephews. She nurtured them with warmth and unwavering support as they were the children she never had. Ingrid was everyone's favorite Auntie, but her special connection with her nephews was truly remarkable. She would move mountains for them, and they in turn cherished and were always there for her. Their bond was a testament to not only who Ingrid was as an Auntie, but as a child of God. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in all of our hearts.
