Caylon Likely Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by B.E. Brown & Co Mortuary on Feb. 26, 2026.
Caylon Ray Likely, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, transitioned from his earthly home at the age of 39.

At the tender age of seven, Caylon was diagnosed with brain cancer, and his parents were told he might only live one year. But God had a greater plan. Through faith, prayer, and unwavering love, Caylon's life became a testimony of resilience and divine grace. What doctors measured in limits, God multiplied in years, granting him decades filled with purpose, passion, and impact.

Caylon lived a life marked by creativity, curiosity, and deep appreciation for the world around him. Music was one of his greatest passions, often serving as the rhythm behind his thoughtful poetry. Through his words, he expressed the depth of his heart and the beauty he saw in life.

He was a gifted photographer with a special love for Alaska, a place that captured his spirit and imagination. Through his lens, he preserved breathtaking landscapes and quiet moments of wonder, even creating custom calendars to share those scenes with others.

A devoted student of history and an avid reader, Caylon never stopped seeking knowledge. His hunger to learn and understand the world was constant. He also had a tender love for animals and nature, finding peace and inspiration in the beauty of God's creation.

Caylon served as a Park Ranger with the National Park Service, fulfilling his calling in the very landscapes he loved. He spent much of his time in Alaska, most recently at Katmai National Park and Preserve, where he respectfully and courageously worked in close proximity to the majestic bears and wilderness he so deeply admired. His work reflected his commitment to stewardship, education, and the preservation of God's creation for future generations.

Caylon's passions reflected a soul that was observant, thoughtful, and deeply creative. His life stands as proof that God's promises are greater than any prognosis. Though his time with us was far too brief, the beauty he captured, the words he wrote, and the love he shared will remain forever etched in our hearts.

Caylon was preceded in death by his devoted and beloved father, Arthur Ray Likely; his grandparents, Clarence and Ledora Logan Likely; and Alice Davis Stevens.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving and devoted mother, Valerie Joyce Stevens Likely of Mobile, Alabama; his loving brother, Gavin Likely of Sub Bavaria, Germany; his loving sister, Chelsey Likely of Birmingham, Alabama; his loving aunt Dinah Stevens of Mobile, Alabama (who was raised with him like a sister), his a God Sister, Ashley Broughton Titus, and his beloved nephew, Lennox Ray Sharpe, whom Caylon loved to the utmost. Lennox affectionately called Caylon "Buddy."

Caylon leaves behind a host of other relatives and numerous friends/coworkers. Many coworkers who described him as God-fearing, a calming presence, humorous, kind, selfless, and an Adventure Buddy.

Earlier today

I met Caylon when I visited Katmai a number of years ago. I eventually realized his love for poetry; 'wish I had known sooner: I wrote a lot while there and would have enjoyed connecting more with him about that shared love. He was a remarkable person: Caylon, I will not forget you.
