Ioan M. Ganea

Ioan M. Ganea, 79, of Allentown, passed away peacefully with his family by his side in his residence on Wednesday December 10, 2025. He was the loving husband of Doina (Opritoiu) Ganea and recently shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Cocorasti-Capli , Romania, he was the son of the late Niculae and Larisa (Volkov) Ganea.

Ioan began his career in Physics in Romania at the Astronomical Observatory and then became a Physics Professor in the United States at Elmhurst College in Illinois. Ioan loved to ski, play tennis and soccer in his early years. Ioan loved to travel and explore new places. He could be found in the garden at their home enjoying nature or being the handyman of all things, especially electronics. Being an avid reader, Ioan loved to learn about how things worked and moved.

In addition to his wife, Doina, Ioan is survived by his son Andre Ganea, husband of Stacy of Florida; sister Ana Ganea of Romania; grandchildren Aristotle, Nicholas, Flynn and Halynn.

A service will be held at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be given in Ioan's memory to a charity of one's choice.
