Ira Clayton Hall, 74 of
Newbern, Tennessee, died on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Friday, December 14, 1951, in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Fleetwood Hall and the late Linnie Crenshaw Hall.
Clayton was a self-employed contractor, a trade that reflected his strong work ethic, skill, and dedication. He took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. A member of Fairview Baptist Church in
Newbern, Tennessee, his faith was an important part of his life and guided the way he lived and treated others.
Clayton enjoyed all kinds of sports. In his younger years, he loved playing them, and even as he grew older, he never lost that playful spirit, often engaging with the kids and cheering them on. He also enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, along with his favorite westerns. Fishing was another pastime he truly loved, and he jokingly liked to say that when he stopped smoking, he traded his cigarettes for a rod and reel. He also enjoyed deer hunting from time to time.
Above all else, Clayton's grandchildren were the center of his world. He cherished every moment spent with them, and they will forever remember the special truck rides they all looked forward to-moments filled with laughter, stories, and love that will be treasured always. Wanting to create memories that would last a lifetime, Clayton built a fort-style playhouse and a swing treehouse just for them, a place filled with joy, imagination, and countless hours of play that reflected his love, creativity, and devotion as "PawPaw."
Clayton also enjoyed time spent with his family around the table, where he was well known for his love of competitive domino games. These spirited games were often filled with laughter, friendly rivalry, and storytelling, and they became cherished moments that brought family together and created lasting memories.
