Ira Eugene "Gino" Spurlock, age 66, of Lake City, AR passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. Born on May 12, 1959, Gino was a lifelong resident of Northeast Arkansas, graduating Lake City High School in 1977.
After a short stint in the oil fields of west Texas, he returned to Arkansas, settling in Blytheville, where he spent the majority of his working years employed by Nucor Steel and as a construction manager with Razorback Concrete Company. After retiring in 2022, he settled down once again in his beloved Lake City. Gino was named after his maternal grandfather, Ira Nettles. This is fitting as family, and by extension friends, meant everything to him. He was a devoted son, brother and friend who touched many lives with his happy demeanor and talent for storytelling. If you were with Gino, you were doubtless going to hear one of his many stories. They will be sorely missed.
Gino was a lifelong sports fan and athlete. As an avid golfer, he won many tournaments and prizes over the years. While only 2% of golfers hit a hole-in-one annually, Gino achieved this feat twice in his lifetime. He was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, Arkansas Razorback and Lake City Catfish/Riverside Rebels fan, always showing his support win, lose or draw.
Ira is preceded in death by his father Norval Wayne Spurlock and brother Gary Wayne Spurlock. He is survived by his mother, Norma, of Lake City; sister Tracy Rhodes (David), of Little Rock; brother William G. (Courtney) of Apopka, FL; niece Elizabeth Spurlock of Apopka, FL; niece Zoe Rhodes of Logan, UT; and niece Mattie Rhodes of Little Rock. In addition, he leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends who will all remember him fondly.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 16, 2026 from 1 - 2 pm, at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel. Services will begin immediately following in the chapel at 2pm with Bro. Jerry Reed officiating.
He will be laid to rest in Monette Cemetery. Honored to serve him as pallbearers are William G. Spurlock (brother), David Rhodes (brother-in-law), Louis Nettles (cousin), Ron Bowman (cousin), Mark Bowman (cousin), and Michael Mize (cousin).
