Irene P. Amendt, 97, formerly of Lena, IL passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at StoryPoint Senior Living in Schererville, IN. Irene was born on August 20, 1927, to Max and Grace (Ilgen) Paul. She married the love of her life Dean Amendt on February 8, 1945.

Irene was a homemaker, having the joy of raising their daughter Linda. She always had a beautifully decorated home inside and out all year round for the different seasons with no details being missed. Irene loved shopping, there were many shopping trips made with her daughter and granddaughter. Irene looked forward to the new adventure she would get to share with her family. She adored them and would always put them first.

Irene found great joy in making and wearing jewelry. Whether she was just staying at home for the day or had a big outing she always looked forward to putting together beautiful outfits. She would coordinate her jewelry with the perfect top and makeup. However, if you knew Irene you knew she had one accessory she wore every day, and that was her beautiful smile. She was loved by so many.

She is survived by her son-in-law James Benninger of Hurley, WI, granddaughter Kerri (Scott) Lovell of St. John, IN; grandson Matthew (Melinda) Benninger of Marquette, MI, and great-grandchildren; Ava and Jacob Lovell, and Caleb and Nathaniel Benninger.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, and daughter; Linda R. (Amendt) Benninger.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Lena Burial Park in Lena, IL.

Pastor Randy Nicholas will be officiating the service.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leamonfh.com or mailed directly to 9690 Acorn Drive, St. John, IN 46373.
