Irene Johnson Baldwin

Mrs. Irene Johnson Baldwin, better known as "Teen", age 84, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, August 15, 2025, at her home.

She was born in Ashe County on October 1, 1940, to the late Vance and Sallie Sturgill Johnson.

Mrs. Baldwin worked as a CNA, caring for many people throughout the county. She also lovingly served as a babysitter for numerous children in her community. But most of all, she was a devoted wife and mother, and her family meant the world to her. She loved going to yard sales; nothing made her happier than finding a good bargain.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Keith Wagoner officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Baldwin is survived by her husband, Vaughn "Crick" Baldwin, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage; a son, Danny Baldwin (Susie) of Jefferson; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hembree (Derrick) of Dobson and Coby Baldwin of Jefferson; two great-grandchildren, Layken and Branch Hembree, both of Dobson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers: Junior Johnson, Mack Johnson, Bob Johnson, Jack Johnson, and Raymond Johnson; and two sisters: Mamie Hardin and Grace Howell.

Pallbearers will be Coby Baldwin, Eddie Hardin, Jimmy Farmer, Mack Johnson, Jeff Wallace, and Brian Neaves.
